WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO I NEED TO START THIS COURSE?

  • Average GCSE point score of 5+
  • A 'good pass' in Maths and English
  • An interest in Childcare, Child Development, Health and Social Care or Education
  • A Distinction in a relevant subject at level 2, if taken

WHY STUDY THIS COURSE?

You will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

  • Child Development – Explore theories and stages of physical, cognitive, and emotional development.
  • Education Systems and Frameworks – Understand the structure of early years and educational settings.
  • Supporting Learning and Development – Learn strategies for promoting learning and responding to individual needs.
  • Safeguarding and Well-being – Gain essential knowledge about protecting children and supporting their mental health.
  • Legal and Regulatory Requirements – Study relevant legislation, policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Professional Standards and Conduct – Learn about ethics, confidentiality, and responsibility in educational roles.
  • Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion – Understand how to foster an inclusive environment for all children.
  • Communication and Language Development – Develop skills in supporting language acquisition and literacy.
