LEARNING AND SKILLS
A BTEC Extended Certificate is a Level 2 practical, work related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. It introduces learners to particular areas of employment and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work related qualification.
EXAMINATION AND ASSESSMENT
EXAM BOARD: EDEXCEL
A BTEC Extended Certificate is equivalent to 4 GCSEs grades and is taken as a full time course which can be combined with GCSE English or maths.
Most units are internally assessed coursework and graded by teachers. Some are externally assessed. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded to all learners who successfully complete all units.
